When deliberate steps are taken to end a pregnancy, it is called an  induced abortion , or less frequently "induced miscarriage". The unmodified word  abortion  generally refers to an induced abortion. Although it prevents the birth of a child, abortion is not generally considered  birth control  (another term for  contraception ).   Tips for making decisions Step 1. Don’t let stress get the better of you.  It’s easy to feel stressed out and anxious when you’re facing a tough choice. You might tend to rush your decisions without thinking them through, or you avoid making a decision at all because the stress has put you off your game.
